Marine Corps Director of Intelligence to Speak Tuesday

Brigadier Gen. Richard M. Lake, director of intelligence for the U.S. Marine Corps, will speak Tuesday, April 17, at the University of Central Florida.
Lake will be the featured speaker at a free public forum organized by the UCF Global Perspectives Office for its Distinguished Visitor Series. He will speak at 3 p.m. in the Cape Florida Ballroom, Room 316, of the UCF Student Union.
Lake will talk about military intelligence issues and challenges facing the United States in the 21st century in the Middle East and elsewhere.
Raised in a military family that traveled the world, Lake graduated from The Citadel and went on to serve in the Marine Corps. He was an intelligence officer in Operation Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and in Operation Restore Hope in Somalia. As assistant chief of staff for intelligence and director of plans and liaison, Lake conducted anti-terrorism missions during Operation Enduring Freedom.
Lake has earned the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Meritorious Service Medal with two Gold Stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
